2nd Saturdays, Cinema La Placita and the So. Arizona Transportation Museum present kids activities and a free movie at the historic train deport and transportation museum. Activities start at 5:00pm and the movie “Rise of the Guardians” will start at 6:30pm.The Locomotive #1673 will be open and kids can climb aboard and ring the bell! There will be face painting and magic as well. The newly-renovated Maynard’s Kitchen will be open and serving up delicious treats such as pizza and Isabella’s Ice Cream.

Cinema La Placita has been showing free children’s films ever since this 2nd Saturday Downtown event started up on May 8, 2010, usually at the large empty lot on E. Congress between Stone and Scott. For a while with the Sun Link streetcar construction, they moved the movies to E. Jackson Street, south of E. Broadway. And now they will deput their outdoor films at the Historic Depot on Toole Ave. Congratulations to organizer Erika O’Dowd for her tenacity in keeping their popular summer film series and this 2nd Saturday viewings going for so long.
